Teams entering USTSA-USA Tournament play
for both Baseball and Fast Pitch:
Setting up
POOL PLAY for a tournament the director will check USTSA-USA STATE or
NATIONAL POINTS RANKING to see if your team has accumulated a record
and has been ranked. Seeding in events will be determined first by
the accumulation of points earned prior to the entered
event. Example:
|
These
Teams have played previous USTSA-USA Events |
|
Georgia Braves |
Florida Bombers |
Tennessee Vols |
Arizona Cardinals |
|
These Teams are first time

|
Alabama Crush |
Kentucky Wildcats |
California Elite |
N Carolina Chargers |
The seeding for POOL PLAY process would be to first compare the
USTSA-USA TOP TEAMS POOL PLAY rankings of the teams that have played
USTSA-USA Tournaments. We will use in this example that the Tennessee
Vols were 3-0, The Georgia Braves were 2-1, the Florida Bombers
were 2-1 and the Arizona Cardinals were 1-2 in USTSA-USA TOP TEAMS POOL PLAY RANKINGS. Tennessee is seeded #1. We then see that
Florida and Georgia share the same record, so the team that entered
and paid first would get the #2 seed (Assuming it was Florida here)
so Florida gets seed #2. Georgia Braves are seeded #3 and Arizona
Cardinals
get seeded #4.
For the remaining teams neither have played in a USTSA-USA tournament
so each will be seeded as payment is received. In the Table below
this illustrates the final POOL PLAY seeding process.

Once POOL PLAY has completed the teams will then be split
according to POOL PLAY RECORD of the tournament. The Top 4 teams
will be seeded (according to record) in a single elimination bracket
in the AMERICAN DIVISION (Crowned American Division Champions) and the
other 4 teams (according to
record) will be seeded in a single elimination bracket in the
NATIONAL DIVISION (Crowned National Division Champions). Each bracket will play out to determine Champions
and Runner Ups and be AWARDED accordingly. (**** NOTE BRACKETS ONLY
SPLIT WITH 8 OR MORE TEAMS PARTICIPATING) If less than 8 teams in
the tournament, all will be seeded after POOL PLAY in an AMERICAN
DIVISION bracket.
ALL Ultimate Division Events will be setup starting with a random
pool play into a single elimination bracket. Ultimate events are
Regional Championships offered to Top Level Teams or American Level
Champions ONLY.

SEEDING
RULE:
Each Win is
given 2pts and each Tie is given 1pt - Points are
totaled to determine seeding of each bracket.
|
|
Seeding is
based on the following: |
|
1 |
Record Using Accumulated Earned Seeding Points |
|
2 |
Head

Seeding Points) |
|
3 |
Runs

STRENGTH
OF SCHEDULE RULE:
Only State
Director or higher has the authorization to balance
any championship bracket based on "Strength of
Schedule" to assure no team is in a position that
will hinder the integrity of the game and the event.
With the splitting brackets at times a higher level
team will fall into Lower Division Bracket and if
the State Director sees this as an unfair advantage
to the remaining teams in the division this rule
will be reviewed and implemented. (This situation
often will apply in seeding teams)
|
All games played will be RANKED only in the Division in which
they are played.
| Example: |
| |
ULTIMATE DIVISION games are recorded in ULTIMATE DIVISION RANKINGS (State and National) |
|
AMERICAN DIVISION games are recorded in AMERICAN DIVISION RANKINGS (State and
National) |
|
NATIONAL DIVISION games are recorded in NATIONAL DIVISION RANKINGS (State and
National) |
|
POOL - ALL games are
recorded in POOL RANKINGS (State and National) |
USTSA-USA
WORLD SERIES QUALIFING:
Once a team has earned a
berth in a USTSA-USA Event to the Divisional World Series
the team is then frozen to that division at minimum. Meaning
should a team earn a Ultimate Division Berth, this team
cannot enter into play with a American / National Division
World Series. A National Division berth can however play up
into a American or Ultimate Division World Series and an
American Division Berth can play up into a Ultimate Division
World Series. (A qualified BERTH can play up divisions but
not down. |
